Hello, have you heard of using low dose Aspirin for brain inflammation? The salicylic acid permeates differently. I noticed an immediate and surprising improvement in thought clarity, control and healthier compartmentalization, I feel. I am not under a doctor's care, but I learned this from an article by Dr. Gavin Guard in Friday Harbor, WA. I also ice ny whole head and neck, which feels great and helps a lot. Just one of my two cents. Thank you for this article and all you do.

In reply to <a href="https://cptsdfoundation.org/2019/08/05/brain-inflammation-and-its-connection-to-severe-mental-illness/#comment-371">fred</a>.

Replacing myelin is still in the developmental stages. They are only working with mice right now. I included links as references to the different papers supporting the research. White matter, (the wiring and other parts of our brain), is coated and dependent on a fatty substance called myelin that acts as an insulator and conductor to keep signals flowing from one synapse to the other thus linking our brain together into a network. If that information highway is blocked by damaged myelin the brain loses its ability to communicate amongst itself and it shorts out. They have known about this for decades and only with the latest research using mice have they had any success (in MS research) at finding a way to repair and replace damaged myelin. When they perfect a method for doing so, there is a myriad of different diseases of the brain, including most mental illnesses, that will then be cured.

I hope this answered your questions. Shirley

where do I find the good news you spoke in this article. I've heard a lot about inflamation being one of the major causes of mental disorders. Do we have anti inflamatory substances that would jump the blood barrier in order to help our loved ones
