Thank you for your research into this subject. My wife and I strongly believe that she has C-PTSD. Her surviving everything makes her the strongest person that I know.

I am going to explore this more with our specialists this and hope that there are suitable treatment options this side of the Atlantic.

Stress inflammation and visual adaptations already being linked to earlier and earlier presentation of myopic and asthenopic dis-ease due to, not only, lack of day-lighting (Blue 480nm) for children captive indoors in the home but schools and offices where display screens exacerbate over-exposure to the near or close-up.

Nevertheless, much of what we are learning now still being dismissed as contrary to received knowledge of what cannot be done regardless of now knowing that the stress related adaptations or in fact brain injuries exhibited in lost function maybe restore-able with rehabilitive intervention taking advantage of the brains "Plasticity" and our evolutionary survival mechanisms

I assure you, the intent of the piece was not to call women who are affected by MS crazy. The link between demyelination of the brain and MS was the only consideration that was intended. If the researchers of MS can find a way to myelinate the spinal cord and cure or at least partially cure MS, then perhaps the same technique can be used to treat many mental illnesses. That was all I meant. I am distressed and saddened that I harmed and upset you. People living with MS are some of the bravest people I know. Yes, I personally know of two people living with it and neither of them are "crazy" or weak. Please, do not read more into this piece than was meant. It is not in the realm of the foundation to declare anyone hysterical and we definitely do not make a connection between severe mental illness and MS although it is well-documented that many living with it often do have co-occurring depression. Thank you for your comment. Sometimes being humbled by someone in the know is just what a person needs. Shirley

You are doing an enormous and dangerous disservice to lots of women by psychologizing auto-immune and so-far-unexplained physical illness. Those of us with chronic physical illnesses have fought this for decades. This misperception is brutal. Women with MS were considered "hysterical" for generations - until imaging proved that demyelination was the cause. Same happened with Lupus. Women with fibromyalgia and myalgic encephalomyelitis are now in this awful position. You SOUND compassionate, but you are really just reiterating the destructive view that women with physical diseases are simply crazy. Even though you would never put it that way. Just stop it. Read up on ME and the unbelievably devastating, even deadly, effects this view has had on sufferers. You are not medical doctors or biologists or medical researchers. You have no business regurgitating this sexist nonsense that just because we don't know the cause, the cause is female mental fragility. And, again, I know you don't think you are saying that -- but you actually are. **You cannot take your current version of this out of its historical context.**
