Yes, CPTSD Foundation offers many different types of helpful programs. Personally, I am still active too. I coach people who have survived severe trauma.

Thank you for your comment. Shirley

It seems to me that with each decade, just like the body changes, the inner child changes. I got help when I was in my twenties and thought I was healed. LOL. Now, I realize how many bad habits & attitudes from my childhood I passed lovingly to my children in complete ignorance. What can one do but continue to learn and put into practice for the next generation (grandchildren). It doesn’t hurt to ask our grown children for forgiveness too! We are all human and make mistakes. However, dealing with things, when needed, then learning to tuck it away to live in the present is the best gift to oneself. No use crying over spilled milk as we use to say! Hahaha, Talk about childhood memory, I was the milk spiller at the dinner table!

[…] The very basic idea is that “Inner child work involves self-discovery of all the emotions and memories one is forced to repress. The idea of inner child work is to get into contact with, listen to, and nurture inner children to find and heal the issues one may be facing in adulthood” (“Healing Trauma Through Inner Child Work”). All I can tell you is of my own recovery. I began therapy in 1990 for childhood trauma and have managed to heal considerably by going to see a therapist regularly. I know, that is 30+ years in treatment, but like my therapist once told me treatment takes longer than what you want but not as long as you fear. You are doing the right things hang in there and you will be rewarded with more piece in the end.

I was sent to ‘Boarding School’ at the age of two and a half, for four and a half years.
I’m no seventy six years old. I’ve been in Therapy since the age of twenty five years old.

I finished with my last Therapist in july of last year 2020.
I’ve Just started Therapy again with a new Therapist who has also had a ‘Boarding School’
experience and I do feel at last he’s on the same page as me. If you can offer me any other advice I would be more than happy to receive it!
Regards,
Roger Sharpley.
