In reply to <a href="https://cptsdfoundation.org/2020/12/30/wheres-the-bright-side/#comment-4121">Ellen</a>.

Thank you, Ellen. I regret being so late to respond. Gosh, that you felt that someone from "your planet" was also marooned here really spoke to me. I really felt that! Living in a city where you know few people, far from family, would indeed be quite challenging. I'm so glad you are reaching out, seeking and finding support. Those gosh darn triggers can seem so relentless. And they are! Until we take steps to take back our lives, our well-being, and our future. You're on the right track. Keep up the good work. And more power to ya!

Living in a city in which I know very few people, even after six years, with no family has been difficult to say the least. Top that ice cream cone with a pandemic and a work place that has made major changes for a year. A trauma survivor's nightmare. Every day has been fraught with triggers. Seeing the bright side eluded me - until I found thiswebsite and read some of the blogs.
Your words were especially helpful. I felt as though someone from "my planet" was also marooned here. I finally see that the pandemic and my work situation are there for me to realize the pervasive way in which tauma affects every waking moment of my life.
Thank you for your words, for your putting your words out there for others and for being you.

Thank you, Rebecca. Your comments really touched my heart, especially that my sharing made you feel less alone -- which makes me feel less alone. I appreciate you and your sharing. That you retained the capacity to love despite that neglect is very cool indeed! :-) You made my day!

What’s cool about you is your ability to put words to my most private feelings without ever knowing I exist, and making me feel less alone. We share similar feelings, experiences and the ability of being an empathic introvert.

What’s cool about me? I still have the capacity to love although I never received that most of my life, and I know the purpose is relationships, of all kinds, however (un)fortunate. Plus, I have “seen the light” a few times, and no obvious visible markers to identify me.

I appreciate you, J. Bradley O.

This was so helpful, thank you for sharing. I know when I shift my perspective to possibilities rather than limitations or negative outlooks, doors open. I see options I couldn't before...not only to get through the day but to make REAL, steady (for the most part) changes.... Well-wishes in finding a home - "your place." Everybody deserves a safe home, especially survivors.
