Thank you so much for this post. I have been through an extremely hurtful time with my counsellor recently. She promised I could see her again, then slammed the virtual door in my face when it came to it. The reason? I had become too attached. She got someone else to break that news to me. I have sent her 2 letters asking for an explanation/apology, but received nothing back. It's so cold. I have been devastated by this, and it has only added more grief on top of the grief I was already carrying. I didn't need it.

I am crying daily so can very much relate to your words here. It really helps to read others' accounts of this experience. And you put it so well. Thank you.

I like to write too, so will probably follow your example and write a similar letter. It's a good idea.

Heartfelt and incredibly eloquent. You have a gift for written rxpression indubitably. And thank you for showing an example of how to articulate issues, even if disparate from what you detail in your letter. Excellent.

@Katherine. I hope you prevail in your case. I too was traumatized by therapists only I feel I wouldn't prevail as I'm a single childless woman and we are usually thought of as being on the wrong side of everything. Most therapists go into it because they have huge problems, only a lot of them don't see to have the ability to see that and impose those problems on us. Anyway, best of luck.

I just went through a horrible situation with therapy abuse. I was re-traumatized to the point where I felt like any good done the past three years was just un-done and more ....I am now in the process of pursuing legal action with an attorney who took my case on contingency. I found this very powerful and am deeply grateful you wrote this. I feel like I need to write something like this myself. My circumstances were different but the betrayal of trust and the confusion was profound.
