It’s nothing less than having the traction of your own identity to negotiate life. This issue causes damage far beyond families, it is rife through out social institutions. I believe this problem is a mental health pathology that ought to be studied and “treated”. The problem is that abuse of power is at the heart of the phenomenon, and it is those in power who institute false narratives and who benefit from them.

I admire your strength to figure it out and share what you have learned. Super complex family systems with both myself and husband. I see the false narratives and its all stranger than fiction. I use to try to communicate to find some understanding, peace or a win/win but it seems to be met over and over with gas lightening or stone walling. Whats worse is how other family members just go along with it and create their own false narrative. I feel so alone with how to proceed with it.
