Your story really resonates with me as I also find thrifting very therapeutic! I resell on eBay and Poshmark to make extra money. I love a good score! I recently found a $5 Noritake China platter that was not being produced anymore at Goodwill that I flipped and sold for $169 within 3 months.
Thank you for your story and words of wisdom!

Heidi . . . I thought I was the only full grown adult that gravitated to collecting as a means of finding solace and peace. It has definitely helped heal my inner child and assist me with keep the few pleasant memories I have of my innocent youth. My guilty pleasure is sports cards (mostly basketball & football), but I do have quite a few baseball as well. I not only collect, but I get them appraised & graded and I've built somewhat of a networth as a side hustle on my collection. There's a whole sub-culture of collectors like us, and aside from the pure fun of it, it's a community that embraces the child in me. Attending shows, conventions, etc... has become an outlet to walk amongst the living and feel whole and like I'm a part of something.

Keep collecting! The fun part is the perpetual hunt for the hidden gem that's a must have! You'll find it, if you don't have it already. Be safe, be kind and be well. . .

I love this! I have a number of Lego sets and jigsaw puzzles that help me think about something other than trauma and my therapy work to heal. My other big thing is wearing bright colourful clothing. The vibrancy just makes me feel happier. I also got yellow glasses and sunshine hair dye. People often tell me they wish they were comfortable doing it. I got my one and only tattoo “warrior” to remind me I can do this. It’s really hard with lots of panic attacks but these things help me.
