This is a wonderful article. Estrangement is a path I would never have predicted for my daughter and myself yet this is where I have found us. After 3 years of dealing with grief, loss and sadness by myself I was fortunate to have found Lynn. As you can tell by this article she is insightful, wise and does have her own estrangement experience. Estrangement has been a gift of growth and learning for me, with Lynn as a guide. Also with Lynn and much help from God, I have explored my own childhood experiences and how I carried them with me to my daughter. I continue to learn and for me, prepare for for the day when there can be reconciliation.

So good to see this topic addressed. I carry a lot of guilt from the way my children were raised. This coupled with my own Cptsd, makes our relationship challenging. I will be looking into this further

Excellent points regarding estrangement. The walking on eggshells and glass is a very apt analogy and accurate. Lynn summarizes this extremely painful situation with a compassion that is necessary to any estranged parent.
