I also had negative experiences in church and I’m so sorry that led ypu away from God. Sometimes lies can be drilled so deep in our minds by the wrong voices and I myself experienced building walls so high to protect myself. For a long time I was also told that even though I experienced abuse I need to forgive those people, but forgiveness was often taken out of the actual Biblical context, and made to feel like I still needed to be around the people who hurt me. I also left a congregation and anytime I would try to reach out to other churches God shut the doors. I began reading the scriptures for myself without external influences praying that God would remove anything that didn’t come from Him as I read. And He revealed so many things and how those people were not telling the truth.

Your testimony is powerful – so glad you left and didn’t give up. Love that you’re now a voice for the voiceless.
