From where do you hail? My therapist in the Nashville, TN area has helped pull me out of a fugue state to being able to maintain a steady job. I also have CPTSD.

Look for EMDR certified therapists, as they will be able to help you process the traumas you’ve been through.

And a note to the author of this article: Thanks so much for showing others the terrible effects childhood trauma has on children and adults, and that this is a societal issue as well, because not everyone has a safe home environment growing up.

Mine was unsafe, and not one freaking person pointed out that my childhood wasn’t normal growl up. It wasn’t until I met and married my husband that I began to see and feel the effects of my childhood (which was just normal to me in most aspects).

Imagine my devastation upon realizing how unhealthy my childhood actually was and feeling like my whole life and identity was one big lie after another.

Identity crisis on top of full blown CPTSD symptoms hit me like lead-weighted boots last year after I birthed my son. Some days I’m still reeling. 😮‍💨 So, truly, thanks for spreading the word about CPTSD.
