STAR Network A partner of CPTSD Foundation

Trauma ends where connection begins

STAR Network is a global non-profit foundation dedicated to supporting STARs — Survivors of Toxic Abusive Relationships — through TAR Anon®, a free, peer-led, trauma-informed fellowship.

If complex trauma came out of a relationship — a partner, a parent, a sibling, a boss, an institution — this is a room full of people who already understand.

A common language for an invisible wound

To further support trauma survivors, CPTSD Foundation is proud to partner with STAR Network®, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization committed to Support, Treatment, and Prevention of Narcissistic Abuse and Attachment Disorders.

Dr. Jamie Huysman realized that people impacted by toxic relationships lacked both the language to explain what was happening to them, and the company of people who could understand.

He coined the term TAR — Toxic Abusive Relationships — to describe the condition. TAR manifests in isolation, gaslighting and trauma bonds, which lead to experiences of worthlessness, shame, and self-blame. This distorted self-image is often rooted in and exacerbated by adverse childhood experiences (ACEs).

He created the free fellowship TAR Anon, to provide the companionship and support needed for true healing.

By prioritizing your CPTSD recovery, you move from being a victim of TAR to becoming a Survivor of Toxic Abusive Relationships — a STAR.

Does this sound familiar?

Am I in a Toxic Abusive Relationship?

Most people arrive here unsure whether what they’re living through “counts.” There is no test to pass and no threshold to meet. If some of these feel like your daily life, you belong here.

You feel like you’re walking on eggshells, bracing for the next reaction.
You apologize constantly — even when you’re not sure what you did.
You’ve started doubting your own memory of events.
You’ve stopped telling friends or family what really goes on.
You feel exhausted, anxious, or numb — and can’t explain why.
It may be a partner — or a parent, sibling, boss, or institution.

If you recognized even one of these, you are not imagining it — and you don’t have to name it perfectly to be welcome.

The STAR Network Foundation Store

From Scars to STARs isn’t just a motto — it’s a journey, and our store reflects both sides of it. The STAR Network Dojo equips survivors with the resources to do the inner work, while the Fundraising Gallery gives supporters a beautiful way to fuel the mission.

Two stores, one purpose.

STAR Dojo

The Dojo is your recovery toolkit — a curated collection of programs, memberships, and resources designed to help survivors of toxic and abusive relationships rebuild from the inside out. Every purchase funds the mission and puts proven, trauma-informed tools directly in your hands.

Fundraising Gallery

Beautiful things can do good work. The Fundraising Gallery pairs world-class art — Ross Halfin photography, Rufus Publications, Robert Leone’s hyperrealist paintings — with real impact. Sales go directly toward STAR Network Foundation’s trauma-informed recovery programs, so every purchase is part of the journey from scars to STARs.

PACEs Connection

Complex trauma rarely starts in adulthood. PACEs Connection is the community built around Positive and Adverse Childhood Experiences — the science that explains why the patterns repeat, and the practices that interrupt them.

PACEs Connection is joining STAR Network, and will become the STAR Network community — a home for members, practitioners and advocates working on trauma-informed change. We’ll share more here as it launches.
