What is UK Recovery Support?

UK Recovery Support was born out of our flagship program, Daily Recovery Support, which was created for survivors of complex trauma who need additional support in between individual therapy sessions. To quote our Executive Director, “this is the type of program I wish I had access to years ago when I began my healing journey”.

Daily Recovery Support was launched in the spring of 2018, with group calls at 8pm Eastern. Since then we knew we wanted to create a similar program for those who live in the UK, at a more suitable time. This program is open to anyone outside of the UK as well! If it fits your schedule, we’d love for you to join us.

Recovery Support provides interactive, group calls in a safe atmosphere, with trauma-informed call leaders who know what it means to not only survive but thrive. Leaders include certified coaches, licensed clinicians, peer support counselors, and mental health advocates who have both lived experience and training working in support group settings.

At 8pm, BST, we come together on a group call on our Zoom platform, complete with the ability to utilize screen shares and a member chat box. The calls are audio only, no cameras are used.

At the beginning of each call, the leader will welcome everyone and read over the Rules & Guidelines. After-which, they will share their screen to highlight a resource related to the topic of the call; reading over, teaching, sharing, and facilitating discussions throughout the call. Members are encouraged to utilize the chat box, ask questions, and share their thoughts. You also have the option of “raising your hand” and using your voice if you wish.

There is never any pressure to interact with the leaders or other members; you may do so as little or as much as you like. “Come as you are, no pressure”. We appreciate you being with us in any capacity that feels safe to you.

While this is not therapy or counseling, it is the type of program that can help equip trauma survivors with skills and information they can use every day in their healing. The compassionate support and validation in this, and all of our programs, can help survivors exponentially as they navigate all aspects of daily life.

For a full list of the topics covered, see our Calendar.

Changing lives every day...

It has become a sacred space for me to return to again and again. This is new for me, I’ve never experienced this before. Home. It is what I imagine ‘home’ to feel like. So grateful!!!!!

These calls have changed my life. I feel encouraged every time I join my “framily” on a daily call. I know I’m supported, and I feel comfortable in sharing my struggles.

I never realized how helpful these calls could be. I’m so glad I decided to joined, and take a chance on myself. I learn so much, and always feel validated when I have the opportunity to join a call.
