b

Sharing Your Personal Story

This is a format that some guest bloggers prefer; talking about your own life and story as a complex trauma survivor. You can include things such as the struggles you faced while the traumatic events were actively taking place, how you coped, your support system (or lack thereof), what it was like on a daily basis both then and now, etc.

b

Be Mindful of Privacy

Consider changing names and places in order to not disclose information you aren’t comfortable with.  Use appropriate details in order to accurately tell your story, but try to avoid intense graphic details and imagery that may be overly triggering.

b

A Mental Health Challenge or Mental Illness

CPTSD Symptoms, CPTSD Awareness, Suicide Awareness & Prevention, Anxiety Disorders, Dissociative Disorders, Eating Disorders, etc. As long as it pertains to healing from trauma.

b

Partner Support

If you are a spouse, partner, friend, or sibling to a complex trauma survivor, or you have an active role in the life of someone who struggles with complex trauma symptoms. Your insight and experiences could help others who are in a similar role and looking for support.

b

Research

If you’ve done in a particular area of complex trauma recovery, factors that contribute to complex trauma, coping skills to aid in healing from complex trauma, etc.

Contributor Guidelines & Best Practices

We welcome contributions from writers of all backgrounds. Whether you are a seasoned professional or a first-time blogger, our editorial team is committed to helping you refine your voice and share your message effectively.

Content & Structure

  • Word Count: Submissions should generally fall between 600 and 1,200 words. However, we prioritize quality over length; exceptions may be made at the editor’s discretion.

  • Engaging Headlines: Please provide a compelling title between 3 and 10 words. Headlines should pique the reader’s interest and clearly communicate the article’s value without being overly cryptic.

  • Readability: To enhance user experience, use subheadings and bullet points to break up dense text. This makes the content more accessible and easier to navigate.

  • Narrative Voice: We accept pieces written in either the first or third person, depending on the nature of the topic.

Editorial Standards

  • Reader Value: Every post should offer meaningful insight, unique perspectives, or actionable information that enriches the reader’s understanding of mental health.

  • Citations: Credibility is paramount. All data, statistics, and clinical claims must be cited. Any quoted material must be properly attributed to the original source.

  • Grammar & Clarity: We recommend using tools like Grammarly prior to submission. Please aim for concise sentences and consistent verb tenses to ensure a professional flow.

Integrity and AI Policy

Our priority is providing our community with authentic, evidence-based, and empathetic mental health resources. To maintain the trust of our readers and ensure the highest ethical standards, we require all guest contributors to adhere to the following additional editorial requirements:

While we recognize that AI tools (like ChatGPT or Gemini) can assist with outlining or brainstorming, we do not accept content primarily generated by AI.Human-Centric Content: Mental health advice must be grounded in human experience and professional expertise. AI-generated text often lacks the nuance and clinical accuracy required for our audience.

Verification: If you use AI to assist your process, you are 100% responsible for the accuracy of every claim made. AI is known to “hallucinate” facts, citations, and medical data.

Intellectual Property & Permissions

We take plagiarism and copyright infringement seriously. By submitting content, you confirm that:

  • Originality: The content you submit is your own original creation.
  • Attribution: Proper credit is given to any ideas, quotes, or data that are not your own.
  • Third-Party Consent: If you include intellectual property belonging to others (e.g., specific therapeutic frameworks, proprietary tools, graphics, or long-form excerpts), you must have written permission from the copyright holder to share it with CPTSD Foundation before your article will be published as well as citing the source in your work itself.
  • Case Studies: If sharing clinical anecdotes or “client stories,” all identifying information must be changed to protect privacy, or explicit written consent must be obtained.

Visuals & Formatting

  • Imagery: To ensure full compliance with copyright laws, our team will select and provide a royalty-free featured image that aligns with your theme. We kindly ask that you do not submit personal photos or external artwork.

  • Author Profiles: Contributors are encouraged to provide a brief bio (2–3 sentences) and a professional headshot. You may include links to your social media or personal website.

    • Note: We respect your privacy. If you prefer to remain anonymous or use a pseudonym, please notify us upon submission.
