What is CPTSD?
Complex Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (CPTSD, C-PTSD, Complex PTSD) describes the results of ongoing, inescapable, relational trauma. Unlike Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), Complex PTSD typically involves being hurt by another person. These hurts are ongoing, repeated, and often involving a betrayal and loss of safety.

STAR Network is a community built on a simple but radical belief: that healing is possible, and that no one should have to do it alone. We bring together trauma survivors, families, and the people who support them — through peer connection, education, and events that turn shared experience into shared strength. Whether you’re just beginning to understand your story or years into your recovery, STAR Network is a place where you belong.
On May 22, STAR Network hosts its 3rd annual Scars to STARs summit — a free virtual event bringing together survivors, scientists, and healers to ask the question that matters most: what actually heals trauma? This year’s theme, “ACE Studies: The Next 30 Years,” looks beyond the damage that childhood adversity causes and toward the communities, relationships, and practices that reverse it. If your story has brought you here, this summit was built for you.

Therapy, Suggestion, and the False Memory Trap
When therapy leans too far into suggestion, it stops helping and starts shaping. Here’s how trauma narratives can go sideways—and what to do about it.
You’ve Been Asking, Here’s My Answer on Navigating Work with a Trauma-Affected Nervous System
As a fellow trauma survivor, I’ve received countless questions about managing triggers in the workplace. It’s a challenge many of us face daily, often in silence. We usually see the tip of the iceberg or what is on the surface. When I started my healing journey, I had...

From Numb to Hope I lived in survival mode for much of my life. I thought it was just how my life should be. I saw myself as someone independent and self-sufficient. After all, I’m an only child. I didn’t have to rely on anyone. I wanted to learn to be alone,...
5 Summertime Nervous System Boosters
Summer has a way of whispering, “Hey... maybe take a breath?”The days stretch longer, the pace slows down (sometimes), and the world smells like sunscreen and BBQ sauce. It’s the season of exhaling - if we let it be.But for survivors, especially those in the LGBTQIA+...
Post-Therapy Fog? How to Beat the Therapy Hangover
It’s wild how, surprisingly, no one really talks about therapy hangovers. Sure, everyone says, “Therapy’s great,” but almost nobody warns you that right after your session, your brain and body might throw a full-on tantrum. But here’s the thing: you’re not broken or...

As trauma survivors, many of us are all too familiar with the feeling of being alone, even in a crowded room. This sense of isolation can be particularly challenging in the workplace, where we often feel pressure to “fit in” or “act normal.” I’ve been there and want...
